my Blackness

My Senior Show comprises artwork that is a visual representation of my journey as a Black woman. My artwork is a wide look through the lens of the discoveries I have made thus far in regards to my Blackness. This body of work challenges the singularity of human experience and the disparity of Black excellence and Black pain. Though I use multiple materials and processes in my pieces, they each serve a unique purpose in the telling of my story. 

I enjoy altering and improving on a print with embroidery and heavy beading to create texture. My goal with this show is to emote from the suffering in spite of the beauty in my Blackness. I hope to shed light on who I am.
