Artist Statement

          My artwork takes a critical view into racial, social, and cultural topics. Often referencing the concealed stories of American history, my work challenges the relationships we have with our ignorant tendencies. Through references to pop culture, historical figures, and personal events, I can create a conceptual story for my viewer. While I use a variety of materials and processes, my focus is Printmaking.

 

          I enjoy altering and improving on a print with embroidery and heavy beading to create texture. Although materials I use may vary, the subject matter I refer to is recurring. My goal as an artist is to provoke and educate my viewer on the urgency of dismantling racial injustice in America.
